ACRO Gymnastics

WHAT IS ACROBATIC GYMNASTICS?

Acrobatic gymnastics (previously called sport acrobatics) is a competitive gymnastic discipline where partnerships of gymnasts work together and perform figures consisting of acrobatic moves, dance and tumbling, set to music. There are three types of routines; a ‘balance’ routine where the focus is on strength, poise and flexibility; a ‘dynamic’ routine which includes throws, somersaults and catches, and (at FIG level 6 and above) a ‘combined’ routine which includes elements from both balance and dynamic.

The ACRO 1 – 5 Program is the Pre-Competitive segment in which athletes have the opportunity to learn routines and compete in introductory level competitions in a safe and fun environment.

This class is CO-ED and lasts for two (2) hours, once per week.

Prior gymnastics experience is NOT required, but is an asset. Please inquire about our Evaluation Process.

This program is designed to introduce Beginner to Intermediate Acro gymnastics skills, through compulsory routines and skills.

Each class begins with a warm-up/stretching. Gymnasts then rotate through various circuits.

Athletes registered in the ACRO program come and go through the Recreational Gym Entrance.  Classes are held in both sections of the gym.

Dress code: For all ACRO Program GIRLS, we require them to wear a ONE-PIECE bodysuit. Shorts & shirt are not acceptable. If the athlete feels more comfortable, they may wear a pair of tight shorts over their bodysuit.
